May. 16, 2025

This year we were able to provide more funding to our incredible athletes thanks to a scholarship fund from Adrenalin Source for Sports
These five outstanding athletes have demonstrated leadership, dedication, and a passion for the game both on and off the ice.

Join us in celebrating:
🏅 Jordan Stevenson
🏅 Julia Paulgaard
🏅 Hannah Perejma
🏅 Elizabeth Downing
🏅 Kiana Averill

Jordan Stevenson has demonstrated exceptional long-term commitment and leadership within the sport of ringette, with 10 years of playing experience, all with the South Calgary Ringette Association. She progression through the ranks—from U10 Step 1 to U19A—reflects strong development, dedication, and competitive experience.
Jordan has shown outstanding contributions off the ice through years of junior coaching at the U12 and U14 levels, as well as extensive volunteer involvement. Jordan is the first to volunteer for our Come Try Ringette events, Conditioning camps and helps with our fall evaluations. She has consistently taken on leadership roles, including running stations, explaining drills, organizing players, and leading practices—demonstrating initiative, mentorship, and a passion for growing the sport.
Overall, she exemplifies the spirit of ringette through athletic dedication, volunteerism, and leadership in the community. We are excited to award Jordan with first place of $1,500 towards her academics!

Congratulations to Julia Paulgaard, our 2nd place $1000 scholarship receipient
In her application Julia wrote: “Ringette is more than just a game to me. It has given me the confidence to believe I am capable of doing hard things, and capable of doing them to a high degree of excellence. I can apply this self-belief to every aspect of my life, and use it to achieve my goals outside of sport.”
With 11 years of ringette experience, Julia has played at every level from U10 to U19A with SCRA, while also giving back as a junior coach, on-ice volunteer, evaluator, and youth rep with the Sport Injury Prevention Research Council. Julia will be heading to University to study Science — and we couldn’t be prouder!

We’re proud to announce Kiana Averill as one of our 3rd place $500 recipients!
Kiana has been a dedicated player with SCRA for 8 seasons and continues to give back to the sport by assistant coaching for the past 3 seasons, helping with goalie clinics and Come Try Ringette. She’s currently in her 3rd year of studies at the University of Calgary.
She wrote "Ringette has contributed positively to my life in many ways, and fostered life skills that I will be able to apply throughout my life. As I moved through my career, I seemed to fall naturally into the position of a team leader." Her reference echo'd her natural leadership abilities: "Her leadership on the ice and her respect for her teammates and the game were always key to the team becoming a team"
Way to go, Kiana — thank you for representing the spirit of ringette both on and off the ice!

Congratulations to Elizabeth Downing, another 3rd place $500 recipient. Ellie has been a contributing member of the SCRA community for the past 10 years. She has volunteered for several Come Try Ringette events and has volunteers for 4 years as a junior coach.
Ellie’s reference shared that “she brought a consistent,
team-first attitude to the rink… Her effort level never dipped below 110%, and her commitment to doing things the right way helped set the standard for those around her.”
We are excited to help support Ellie in her first year of studies at University. Congratulations Ellie!

We are proud to announce Hannah Perejma as $500 scholarship recipient!
Hannah has been a dedicated ringette player for over 9 years with SCRA and AA. In her application Hannah wrote: "I wanted to give back to the community that had given me so much and be someone young girls could look up to and admire. I also wanted to share my knowledge, experience, and hope with the growing athletes so that they could grow into the best individuals I know they can be. My experience with Junior coaching has influenced me not just with my ringette career, but with my activities outside of ringette as well"
Her reference shared "Hannah has always been a true role model to team mates and competitors alike through
determination, hard work and competitive spirit without sacrificing compassion and sportsmanship."
SCRA is lucky to have amazing role models like Hannah to help guide our younger divisions! Good luck in your studies at University Hannah!
